These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern the sale of rugs and carpets (“Products”) by Tai Ping Carpets, 117-119 Fulham Rd., London SW3 6RL, United Kingdom, to consumers purchasing from our UK website: www.taipingshop-uk.com. These Terms apply to non-business customers (“you” or “the Buyer”).
All offers and sales made by the Seller are governed by these Terms and Conditions, unless expressly varied in writing by an authorised representative of the Seller. These Terms take precedence over any conflicting terms proposed by the Buyer.
By placing an order, you confirm you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms without reservation.
2. ORDERS
Products are offered subject to availability.
Prices shown include VAT at the applicable UK rate.
Shipping and installation charges, if any, are shown separately before checkout.
A contract is formed only when we confirm your order by email.
3. PAYMENTS
Payment is required in full before delivery. For stocked items, full payment is required at the time of order. For made-to-order or customised rugs, a 50% deposit is payable upon order, with the remaining 50% due before shipment from our factory. No products, whether stock or made-to-order, will be dispatched until full payment has been received.

- If Products have been used, installed, or damaged while in your care, your right to a refund may be reduced.
To cancel:

- Refunds will be processed within 14 days of receiving the returned goods. For made-to-order rugs, cancellation must be made within 48 hours of order placement. After this time, cancellations are not permitted, and the deposit will be retained.
6. RETURNS & EXCHANGES
If you’re unhappy with your purchase, we’re here to help. Please contact our customer service team by email at [email protected] or
call +44 (0)20 7808 9650.
Stocked items may be returned or exchanged within 14 calendar days of receipt, provided they are unused, undamaged, and returned in their original packaging.
Custom-made, cut-to-size, personalised, or sale items are non-refundable and non-exchangeable, except where required by law.
Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the Buyer, except in cases where the item is faulty or incorrectly supplied, in which case the Seller will cover reasonable return shipping expenses.
To initiate a return or exchange, the Buyer must contact our Customer Service team first. We will then arrange for collection from your home, workplace, or an alternative address as agreed.
We recommend retaining the original packaging to facilitate safe return. If the original packaging is no longer available, please contact us for guidance on suitable alternatives, or we can provide replacement packaging free of charge.
7. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION & TOLERANCES
All products sold by the Seller are produced under close supervision, but due to the artisanal techniques employed, slight variations in weaving, colour, motif, texture, or dimensions may occur. These are inherent to handcrafted production and do not constitute defects.
- All rug sizes stated are approximate and subject to acceptable tolerance levels.
- All tufted or woven carpets may exhibit tonal or textural variations across the surface.
- There may be differences in colour or shade between samples and final goods;
- These variations, being minor and unavoidable in most cases, shall not entitle the Buyer to cancel the order, reject the goods, or claim damages, subject to applicable consumer rights under UK law.
- Slight fibre shedding may occur and is expected.
8. INSTALLATION AND USE
For installed carpets, the warranty applies only if fitted per the Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI) standards.
Damages from improper installation, excessive wear, or misuse (e.g. caster wheels, flooding, stair tread) are excluded.
9. WARRANTIES AND LEGAL RIGHTS
You are covered by UK legal guarantees, including:
- Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described.
- If your product is faulty or not as described, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund.
- You have 2 years from delivery to raise a claim for non-conformity.
- For hidden faults (latent defects), you have 2 years from discovery to act.
10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
We are not liable for:
- Indirect or unforeseeable losses
- Business or commercial damages
- Wear and tear or misuse
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or where otherwise prohibited by law.
