Ajowan I

The Biophilic Collection, comprising eight couture creations, offers a complex interpretation of the Biophilic theme. The whole array of Tai Ping's hand-tufted techniques and finishings are on display in these works, including gradations, multi-level pile heights and specialty sheering.
Crafted exclusively from natural and renewable material, using a range of undyed fibres.

Inspired by the Japanese tie-dye technique of Shibori, Ajowan plays with crude fibres to achieve an imitation of ink and colour. Dark loops suggest the ties used to knot the fabric, while light, shallow silk evokes spots unsaturated by pigment. A diagonal line cuts across the carpet creating a mirror effect, a dark and light binary.
